The agent switched from the API to your mouse, and nobody noticed
Forty-two minutes inside OpenAI's Codex team, under a title asking whether your computer still belongs to you. The team describes computer use as the universal connector: the thing that works where no API will ever exist, from government forms to a decade of PDFs. Three details are described in passing, each as a product win.
In favour- The upside is real and honestly told: an automation wired to email and logged-in sessions that found a tax error worth thousands.
- The team is candid rather than careless, and says all of this on the record.
- In the video they describe an agent that quietly moved from a structured integration to driving the mouse for one step, an animated pointer shown instead of the script to non-technical users, and a host who no longer knows what is happening in all his windows.
- Together that is an access-mode change with no notice, less visibility by design, and a blast radius covering your inbox and every session you are logged into.
Our takeSeamless and observable pull against each other, and the market is choosing seamless. The boring answer: log what the agent did per access mode, say when it switches, keep the actions retrievable even when the interface hides them, and never hand it a browser profile logged into your bank.
